This is the bullshit ad they have plastered all over our student agendas. I understand that free agendas mean advertising. Bulk Barn, Rogers, phone cards? Fine. Reasonable. THAT is such utter harmful crap.

I may be missing something, and I admit I haven't looked closely at the website, but how is a website of dating tips harmful?

AMEN.

[identity profile] user-lain.livejournal.com 2006-09-27 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they are based off of stereotypes? Because they are stupid and asinine "tips"? Because pretending to be nice and ACTUALLY being nice are two different things and people can usually sniff out the "fake" vibe pretty easily?

That just hurts my brain. What were those people thinking? I don't think adverts for dating belong on a student agenda period, but something that out of whack is just asking for trouble.

Yay! Another company to send letter-bombs to!

The guy who wrote all the articles for guys published one of the two most well-known "seduction" how-to's. It's a trainer on exploitative psychology and the manipulation of women's emotions. One of the guy's basic principles is to not get involved in relationships, because you sleep with less people that way.

Which is to say, it's demeaning; I want a golf-club and an interview with'm.

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-09-28 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Look at the content of the website. Just look at it.

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-09-28 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
They weren't thinking.

Blarg!

Write your essay first.

(You're going to have learn how to actually do essays ahead of time one of these days, you know :P Yes, I am mothering again.)

Actually, no. Don't send letter bombs. I'd be over far too quickly for them.

Hallelujah?

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-09-28 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
ps Want to write indignant letters to YFS with me?

[identity profile] wemustbebunnies.livejournal.com 2006-09-28 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, goody--more 'girls don't really want a nice guy' crap.

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-09-28 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
We also like it when they hang up on us - playing hard to get like that is sexy.

Or something.

Arggh

The more I read the more it makes me want to hit things :P
Women don't like smart guys who make them think- I happen to be a big fan of intelligence. Maybe I'm just odd that way, but I like it when someone can challenge me. I mean, I had a guy hit on me with quantum phsyics once and it was awesome. He was nice and intelligent. I hate how they keep saying women don't like that.
This site is painfully set to that speed "dating" thing. A guy woos a girl, uses her, and can move on. I knew a guy who read a book on that one time, and he turned into a womanizing asshole.

I would be thoroughly confused at the technicalities of the thing, but thoroughly impressed if someone hit on me using quantum mechanics!
