The Wrath of the Geeks!

Last night was a smash hit success! Liz came down early and here's what we whipped up for the masses to consume:

Darmok
A frozen desert on Tasma V, from TNG epidoe "Darmok" - We made it from thoroughly mashed kiwi fruit, lemon juice and sugar.

biQ
A weak drink that is composed of molecules of hydrogen and oxygen. We tlhInganpu have a saying: "Drinking fake ale is better than drinking water." Water was ordered by the Romulan defector Jarok who used ameasure of temperature that was unfamliar to the computer of the Enterprise D.

len soj
Klingon voyage food, from TNG episode "Firstborn", Worf and Alexander enjoyed some at the Kot'baval Festival on Maranga IV - We sliced up those fruit-to-go type snacks to make this.

Qagh
51 varieties exist, qagh was first show in "A Matter of Honor" when Riker was aboard a Klingon ship on exchange - Made with fettuchini noodles (I apologized to the group - my supplier keeps bungling the delivery and my qagh arrives dead - honourless swine!), capers, onion, and garlic. And lots of olive oil so that it would slide all the way down!

Rootbeer
Favoured by the hew-mons (and by Nog).

Rokeg Blood Pie
First heard of in TNG's "A Matter of Honor". Worf and his human family used to make it as well. Amusing fact: the Bleud Feud between the House of Rengoth and the House of Dore began when warriors of each house claimed to have the better recipe! - We made made it with a good old fashioned pie shell, vanilla Jell-O pudding mix and cherry pie filling on top, with the cherries picked out with chopsticks. It looked good, but the taste was a little iffier for most of us (the slight burning the pudding suffered in the pot might account for that). Ironically, the vegetarian liked it best :P

Raktajino
Seen all over the place, largely on DS9 and specifically mentioned as more than an aside on "Trials and Tribble-ations". Klingon coffee! - We used the Klah version, since the ingredient list was about half the length and mostly diary-free, so it was a little more Pern and a little less Klingon. Made with dark hot chocolate, instant coffee, nutmeg and cinnamon.

It looked fantastically amazing when it was all laid out on the table.

We spent most of the evening trying to stump each other with obscure trivia and "What character is taped to my back?" games. [livejournal.com profile] the_great_waka showed up in costume (hee!) and Bryan brought along his various Trek weaponry, with which we enjoyed vaporizing each other (stunning was only half as fun). We ended up with a smaller group than I was expecting (I think we maxed out at around nine or ten people), but it went off splendidly anyway.

I like your version of Raktajino. I work at a coffee shop and I am always trying to perfect my recipe.

That sounds great though.. I wish I could have seen it. Did you take pics?

I'm old school and still using disposables, but I do have a picture of our half-descimated feast. I'll try and remember to upload the shots once the roll is finished and developed!

The version of the recipe I'm using calls for half a cup of dark hot chocolate, 3/8 tps cinnamon, 1 tsp of finely ground instant coffee and a pinch of nutmeg. 3 tsp of the mixture to 3/4 cup of water, though I found that a little weak.
