Questionable taste in humour ahoy!

And this is how I function. Food, food, food and more food. Welcome back energy, welcome back.

I need to solve this computer problem. I need to use my laptop and school computers or whatever to write papers, type things up, whatever. But they are *so* distracting and I will waste hours, sometimes the whole day just fooling around. The only place I am consistently productive is at the Reference Library, where I feel like if I play solitaire too long, someone will stare. People to keep me in check and all that. Guilt is an *excellent* motivator for me. It's why I always start to study after eight, nine o'clock and no sooner.

But the point is, these bad habits cannot stay. I need to find another way to type things up, like one of those crazy little handheld things I got to use in elementary school, with only a sliver of a screen and a keypad. No distractions there. Too bad they cost money -_-

I'll find something. I just don't know what yet.

Sounds like you need either A) and electric typewriter or B) a computer so old that all it can do it word process and can't do the internet. I mean like an 1980 old.

Wait, what? That's not the joke as I remember you telling it... Should read it over.

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Ag, I wrote it wrong! It's still mildly amusing this way, but I did get the question wrong! *goes to fix*

[identity profile] the-great-waka.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Ah indeed. Should be 'Why did the robot cross the road?'

[identity profile] jezebeau.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Nonsense! The answer to that one is: "It was a robot chicken."

Another acceptable answer would be "What, never seen a chicken in a warstrider before?"

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right. It was a robot chicken is a far better answer than "It was carbon-bonded to the chicken." (When I was reminded that it was robot, the joke suddenly stopped being so amusing. But robot chicken is still funny. Hee!)

I could uninstall all your games until you finish your papers and not tell you how to put them back on? :)

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a good thought, but it's not just the games. It's the whole computer. I'd have uninstall everything but word, but I need to check my email and things like that as profs send information out on it.

[identity profile] partytodamascus.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
or.
borrow a mac!
you won't be able to figure out how to open the games!
*narrows eyes at michael*

[identity profile] akeyoftime.livejournal.com 2006-03-30 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs*

It's not just the games. It's the whole ensemble. (Minesweeper on a mac isn't the same :( )

Guilt and panic are the two things that tend to kill my procrastination. As for taking notes and doing outlines and such, could using a handheld audio recorder to just record lectures or your outlines for papers and research help?
