What the fucking hell?

I'm at a bit of a loss for words here, probably because I have nothing good to say.

Not only is their logic faulty (while spending could certainly increase on spanish and non-english books, the idea that they will "take over" is ridiculous - and baning even donations?), suggesting that the poor woman's SIN number be checked simply because she's not a white American and speaks something other than English is downright racist. It looks like the librarians aren't backing down, which is fantastic of them. I just can't understand that level of xenophobia. I wonder if they know how much of American culture is borrowed and imported from other parts of the world.

Umm, WHAT? They're annoyed that an American-born employee is billingual? Since when is being billingual a bad thing? Or, for that matter, having books available in other languages?

It insults their frail minds the think that anyone would need to read or speak anything but American. In some tiny hidden corner of their heart they might be envious that there are books that they couldn't understand, and they can't have others enjoying something that they can't, can they?
