Movie industry sadness :(
Mar. 2nd, 2005 08:21 pmMost of you will probably have never heard of it, but Kate Heburn and Spencer Tracey were among the cast of "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?", released in 1967. It was a good movie - a really smart social commentary which had a well-off, educated and all-around good white girl come home from college with boyfriend in tow. A black boyfriend. It's a great movie and shows the predjudices of both sides, it's not one is a bad guy and one is a good guy. BOTH parental units finally admit they could be wrong and that if their kids are happy together, then they can live with it too.
There's a re-make coming out, called "Guess Who?" Same principle, though things are reversed a bit. A black woman brings home a white boyfriend. That boyfriend is Ashton Kutcher.
I understand that the social context has changed, but if they turn this into just another stupid!Hollywood movie, I am going to cry.
