Dec. 27th, 2005 11:17 pmI posted the first part of this meme back in February of 2005. It took me a while, but here are the results of the NITA! pairings meme.
Miaka/Tamahome/Yui (Fushigi Yuugi)
The simple love triange itself is probably fairly realistic, though I've never been there myself. Thankfully. I loved that this triangle really was just that, because Miaka and Yui's friendship was just as important as Tamahome and Miaka's relationship. AMEN. As a true blue threesome... eh... can't see it, except maybe if Miaka had been captured by Evil!Tamahome. Poor Yui was too hurt and had been too twisted to understand much else.
Janeway/Chakotay (ST: Voyager)
One of my very rare OTPs! In fact, it's probably the reason my OTPs are so rare. When Paramount pulled Chakotay/Seven out of the hat at the very end of the series, I tried to run with it, but the utter lack of lead up was just too off-putting. It really turned me off hardcore shipping because it was dissapointing to be let down after all that time and energy.
Nevertheless, when Robert Beltran bothered to act, they had great chemistry and I'm thrilled that the post-series books are going in a J/C direction.
JetC forever!
Hiro/Ayaka (Gravitation)
Cute and sweet, I hate that as a het pairing, it is so often bashed or written off. Grr mindless fangirls!!!!
I think that while Ayaka may have originally run to Hiro to fill a certain void, that she would eventually grow to care for him in time. He's clearly smitten with her right off the cusp and I hate to think that a nice guy like Hiro has to finish last.
I support it if only because all the other pairings for these two are usually badly written and full of bad, sometimes physically impossible sex. I do not dig that.
Himeno/Hayate (Prétear)
Can I just start off by saying I love this series? Yeah, because I do. Himeno/Hayate is a little shaky for me though. He's such an ass to her, even in the anime and while I have a bit of empathy for his actions in the mangaverse, he was largely really, really stupid as well. Could this be a healthy relationship in time? Maybe. But right now I'm all like "Eh... not comfortable." I don't like to see nice guys end up with jerks, even if they are recovering jerks.

Date: 2005-12-28 10:50 am (UTC)Resolutions was such an 'awwww' episode and it made that ship totally canon for me. Scorpion was great, the plot was pretty good too, but the intense J/C interaction had me holding my breath. And cos I'm a geek (and don't get to pull out my script book often enough):
Janeway: I keep looking to all these Captains..my 'comrades in arms.' But the truth is I'm alone.
Chakotay: If that moment comes...we'll face it together and we'll make the right decision. You're not alone Kathryn.
Janeway: Three years ago, I didn't even know your name. Today I can't imagine a day without you.
Janeway: I've made my decision. Do I have your support?
Chakotay: You're the Captain. I'm the first officer. I'll follow your orders. But that doesn't change my belief that we're making a fatal mistake.
Janeway: Then I guess I'm alone after all. Dismissed.
Janeway: There are two wars going on. The one out there, and the one in here. We're losing both of them.
Chakotay: It will be your undoing.
Janeway: What?
Chakotay: Our 'conflicted' nature, our individuality. Seven of 9 said we lacked the cohesion of a collective mind...that one day it would divide us and destroy us...and here we are proving her point.
Janeway: I'll tell you when we lost control of this situation...when we made our mistake. It was the moment we turned away from each other. We don't have to stop being individuals to get through this. We just have to stop fighting each other.
