(no subject)

I know my french isn't what it used to be.

But I'm pretty damn sure "Au fur et au mesure." does not mean the same thing as "En même temps."

No, I'm pretty sure it doesn't either, and we all know how bad my French is.

Ah, but my professor says it does, so whatever we think is moot.

Katie dear, would it be possible for you to sign on to MSN? Or just tell me here when you think would be best for Margaret and I to see you on Saturday? I'm thinking meeting for lunch someplace and hanging out for a few hours or something like that.

I have a martial arts class from 3:30 to 4:30 in Greektown. I'd rather not miss it, but it cuts the afternoon inconveniently :( Otherwise, the day is yours.

Okay, we could meet around Greektown at maybe 11 or something? That would give us enough time to meet and eat and then let you get to class.

I can even meet up with you again afterwards, if you like that plan, though I don't know what else the pair of you have up your sleeve.

Also, that is a delicous sounding plan!

We'll see, it depends on what my parents are planning for the day probably.

It is!

"Au fur et à mesure" meeeeans... I never realized how hard it is to define this.

It meeeans... thaaaat... you do something so that it's at the same time as something else. So you could say "au fur et à mesure que tu recois les livres, tu me les enverras". So when you receive one book, you send, when you receive the next book, you send, etc. It's KINDA "en même temps" because you do it more or less at the same time as something else. One thing is ongoing, and then you're to do something else more or less on an ongoing basis paralell-ly :P

I am not good at explaining, I'm sorry. Basically, you're both right.

Le boo :( This means this is not a legitimate grievance. (Not your fault, especially since I am still right!)

It wouldn't be my fault even if you weren't right. I didn't decide on the meaning of the phrase. I'd be a bitch for pointing out you were wrong, but it wouldn't be my fault. :P
