Sifu worked us so. hard. yesterday. It was fantastic.

I'd swear to you that we must have done push-up after push-up after push-up, because even my back muscles are sore (in the good way), but we didn't do even a single one; this is all from the pad drills. Twenty seconds on each skill. Triple-punch. Single crossovers. Double crossovers. Lead-and-trap. Lead-cross. Lead-cross other side. Lead-cross hook upper-cut. Lead-cross hook upper-cut other side. Lead-cross upper-cut cross hook. Lead-cross upper-cut cross hook other side. Sprint. Repeat, 15 seconds on each skill. Sprint. Repeat, 10 seconds on each skill. Run. Then timed line drills. More running. Especially if you didn't make get your drills done in time. Front kick, side kick, spinning back kick. Front kick, step, hopping side kick. Run.

Some of the muscle looseness it brought on (think of how you feel after a really good massage) is still with me today. That is kind of amazing and very welcome. Training is wonderful. I really need to find a way to keep at this over the break periods and even more importantly, the summer.

If you are out here, and thus away from your dojo/kwoon for a while, I'd be happy to work/train with you. I don't think we have too much in common, advanced technique-wise, outside of Wing Chun, but the basic stuff seems to be the basic stuff wherever you go. Your drills sound very familiar to me, and it sounds like an awesome school.

P.S. I didn't know you were into this stuff until very (less than 3 business days) recently! Squee!

We practice a hybridised kind of Wing Chun. Our theory and some of the technique is Wing Chun (centre-line is vital to what we do, for example), but we've adopted some from San Shou Kung Fu as well. I had a chat with Sifu last spring about training out in Victoria and what I aim to get out of the sport is far closer to the Wing Chun side of things, though. (San Shou clubs tend to throw you into the ring and let you have at it. Which has its place, but I really enjoy the act of training skill sets too.)

I would be so very delighted to train with you! I'm hoping to save up enough pennies and do some catch-up training with Andrew (who is more advanced, especially in the Wing Chun forms) so that I can afford to join a club this summer, but even so, I think it would be a lot of fun, especially if you do a similar style.
