It all began when I started scratching at the stones with a smaller one. Bad Wolf quickly came up and things went on from there.

After going to get some actual chalk, we did it properly. (Hard to see, but it's written twice on the speed bump, each one facing in a different direction.)

The TARDIS materialized next, complete with sound effects (both written and verbal). We picked a fairly quiet patch of campus, but as soon as we started with this, we started to get some strange looks. I suppose sidewalk chalk drawings on a university campus aren't entirely common and why were we drawing a strange looking phone box anyway? A few people stopped to ask us what we were drawing, but most just walked on by. Sadly, we only saw about half a dozen people all afternoon who recognized even the TARDIS.

Even with a reference picture, the Torchwood logo was a lot harder than I thought it would be to draw. The wet patches are proof that I forgot to connect the middle row the first time I did this particular drawing. (The actual first attempt at it was scrapped altogether, washed away by a cup of water.)

Then came rainboxfox's Dalek. (Pointed away from the TARDIS, thank you.)

While we were puttering around, trying to decide what to draw next (we had taken a Who break to draw some Hitchhiker's artwork as well), a man walked past and asked "Where's K-9?", at which point we looked at each other and said "K-9!", because how could we have forgotten him? My friend Bryan, who was keeping us company, had a good laugh at our little display.

Unfortunately for K-9, we drew him right above the Dalek, so it looked a little bit like he was under attack. Neither rainbowfox nor I was willing to try drawing a person (we'd ruled out a cyberman earlier for the same reason), so we drew the next best thing we could think of ... the sonic screwdriver. (Though I really should have remembered Ace's baseball bat too.)

At that point, real life obligations forced us to stop and it rained that evening. That only thing that's still really visible (beyond a few patches of colour) is the TARDIS, which was partially sheltered by an overhanging tree. This has created the awesome effect of making it look like it's in the process of dematerializing.
